When was the last time you read a nutrition label? Many people tend just to grab and go at the grocery store, taking a quick look at the large, bold messaging printed on the front of the packaging and trusting the package’s claims that the stock is healthy and safe. However, this hurried approach to food shopping can lead to important impacts on health. Taking a little extra time to understand the nutrition label before making a purchase might end up preserving a lot of time and money in health care costs in the long-term. Many of the so-called “healthy” food choices contain a lot of chemicals, fillers, and artificial additives that can lead to numerous health predicaments. While eliminating all processed foods isn’t a likely result for most people, simply bringing awareness to daily consumption practices and at least reducing intake of some known contributors to poor health can add up and make a major impact on health.
